401(k) Rollover Process

S
Written by Sarah Miller

Our client success team here at Zoe is happy to help you rollover a previous 401(k)* into a Zoe IRA account. Here are the steps to get that done.

Step 1: Schedule Your Rollover Call

The first step is to book time with a Zoe Client Success Manager. During this call, we’ll walk you through the rollover process and answer any questions.

Step 2: Upload Your 401(k) Statement

Before your call, please upload your most recent 401(k) statement. This helps us review your plan and prepare the next steps.

Step 3: Speak With Our Client Success Team

During your scheduled call, your Client Success Manager will:

  • Review your uploaded statement

  • Walk you through the rollover process

  • Collect any required information

  • Provide mailing instructions for your rollover check (if needed)

After the call, we’ll send you a full recap with everything we discussed and your next steps.

Step 4 (If Needed): Mail the Rollover Check

If your current provider requires you to request and mail a check, here’s how to do it:

Make the check payable to:
FBO: [Your Name & Account Number]
Apex Clearing Corporation
Attn: Banking Department
350 N. St. Paul St., Ste. 1300
Dallas, TX 75201-4229

Don’t worry — we’ll include these instructions in the post-call recap so you have them in writing.

Step 5: Receive a Recap Email

After your call, you’ll receive a detailed email summarizing:

  • What was discussed

  • What you need to do

  • What to expect next

We’ll also copy your financial advisor, so everyone stays on the same page.

Step 6: Confirmation of Deposit

Once your rollover check is received and processed by our custodian, you’ll hear from us right away with a confirmation and next steps.

*NOTE: To rollover a 401(k) plan, you need to have left the employer that sponsored the plan. Most often, plans take about 2 weeks or 1 payroll cycle to refresh for a rollover.
